The short answer

Ruins of Lordaeron is one of the two new dungeons that opened in the first week of the WoW Forever beta.

Blizzard gives it a level range of 15 to 20 and describes it as the place where you help the Forsaken reclaim the ruins of their old capital.

This page is a reference for one dungeon: which quests to pick up for your faction, what to watch for inside, and which rewards suit your role.

For all nine new dungeons, raid dates and loot rules, see our dungeons and raids overview instead.

We keep three kinds of evidence apart.

Blizzard announcements are marked as official.

Names, stats and quest factions come from Wowhead Forever’s beta game data.

Boss drops, hidden-boss summons and item locations come from third-party beta observations.

Everything here reflects the beta as checked on September 27, 2026, and needs to be checked again after launch.

This is a compiled reference, not a play report: we did not run the dungeon ourselves.

In short: the dungeon has 10 quest lines, 6 for the Horde (4 of them picked up outside) and 4 for the Alliance (all started inside).

Two lines are chains, so counting every step there are 15 quests: 10 for the Horde and 5 for the Alliance.

Cloth healers can collect 2 of the 5 Rotmender’s Raiment pieces here.

Level range: 15–20 officially, 11–21 in Group Finder

Blizzard’s beta announcement and Kaivax’s dungeon list of September 15 both give Ruins of Lordaeron a range of level 15 to 20.

The beta started with a level cap of 20, which Blizzard said would rise to 30 later in the test.

On September 20, a beta player reported on the U.S. forums that Group Finder lists the dungeon from level 11 to 21.

The same player wrote that the mobs after the spiders were level 16 and the bosses level 17 to 20.

We found no Blizzard reply or fix for that label as of September 27.

Blizzard’s What’s Next recap says Forever has no level scaling, so monsters do not weaken to match a low-level party member.

In Wowhead Forever’s beta data, the boss drops require level 15 to 19 and the dungeon quests are marked level 21 to 22.

Official ranges from Blizzard; data rows from Wowhead Forever tooltips checked on September 27, 2026.

Quest pickup is a separate limit.

On Wowhead Forever’s quest pages, 4 lines start at level 15 and the other 6 start at level 16.

Later steps keep the same requirement, so counting all 15 quests, 5 need level 15 and 10 need level 16.

Our judgment: the dungeon itself is fine from level 15, but a party that wants every quest should have everyone at level 16.

Where the entrance is and how the Alliance gets there

Wowhead Forever lists Ruins of Lordaeron as a dungeon in contested territory.

Third-party beta guides place the entrance among the ruins of Lordaeron’s capital in Tirisfal Glades, right above the Undercity.

For the Horde, that is a short trip from Brill, the Undercity and Silverpine Forest, where their outside quests are picked up.

The Alliance has to cross Horde land, and Blizzard has not published an Alliance route to the entrance.

Blizzard’s Found Photos recap says the Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine ship opens an early path between the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor.

The same recap says Menethil, Southshore and Auberdine add another route that gives more flexibility while leveling.

It does not say which port connects to which, or whether you have to change ships, so we do not give a boat itinerary here.

Because the entrance sits above a Horde capital, Alliance groups are safer travelling together.

Horde quests: six lines, four picked up outside

Wowhead Forever’s beta data tags 6 Ruins of Lordaeron quest lines as Horde quests.

Unending Torment alone has 5 steps, so the Horde side has 10 quests in total.

Pick up 4 of them before you zone in: The Wrath of Rath’mael in Brill, and Light’s Justice and The New Plague in the Undercity.

The fourth, A Frightened Request, comes from Tabitha Heartweaver in Silverpine Forest.

Names, factions, required levels, objectives and NPC map locations from Wowhead Forever beta data, checked September 27, 2026.

Wowhead Forever’s map data puts her at about 44.4, 43 in Silverpine Forest.

Light’s Justice asks for 25 Intact Limbs from the dungeon, and The New Plague asks for a Highly Toxic Strain from Witherfang.

The Wrath of Rath’mael, Light’s Justice and A Frightened Request require level 15, and The New Plague requires level 16.

The other 2 quests start inside and require level 16.

The Baron’s head starts Unending Torment, a five-step chain in the Undercity led by Master Apothecary Faranell.

Wowhead data lists the steps as quest IDs 97288 to 97292, and the reward choice comes with the third step.

A Crest of Lordaeron found inside starts the Horde quest of the same name, which you hand in to Oran Snakewrithe in the Undercity.

Alliance quests: four lines, all started inside

Wowhead Forever’s beta data tags 4 Ruins of Lordaeron quest lines as Alliance quests, and none of them has to be picked up outside.

Remember That I Love You has 2 parts, so the Alliance side has 5 quests in total.

Abominable Creatures comes from Captain Truman, whom beta guides place just inside the entrance; he wants the Head of the Baron.

Bloodied Insignia starts from the item of the same name and asks you to bring 10 insignias to General Marcus Jonathan in Stormwind.

Remember That I Love You starts from a Blood-Stained Letter that goes to Orphan Matron Nightingale in Stormwind.

That first part gives no item; its second part sends you to Avette Fellwood in Duskwood, who gives the Tarnished Locket.

Names, factions, sharing and turn-in NPCs from Wowhead Forever beta data; start points inside the dungeon from beta observations.

Abominable Creatures, Bloodied Insignia and Crest of Lordaeron require level 16, and Remember That I Love You requires level 15.

Crest of Lordaeron is a quest-starting item in the beta data; its quest sends you to Lady Dena Kennedy in Stormwind.

Beta observers report that the crest does not always spawn in the same place: a tower near Bjork, or the far end past Bjork on the wall of a small temple.

Blizzard’s September 24 beta notes fixed a bug where sharing several dungeon quests gave the receiving player a quest item.

Blizzard did not say that Ruins of Lordaeron quests can no longer be shared.

Wowhead Forever’s beta data marks all of them as sharable except both parts of Remember That I Love You.

Our cautious advice: where a quest starts from an item or an NPC you can reach, have each player pick it up themselves.

Party checklist before you zone in

These steps combine the official level range, the quest data above and our own judgment.

Every member should be at least level 15 for the dungeon, and level 16 to accept all quests.

Horde players should have the 4 outside quests before walking up from the Undercity.

Alliance players only need to arrive together and talk to Captain Truman inside.

Most quests are sharable in the beta data, but picking up your own is the safer habit after the September 24 sharing fix.

If you plan to summon the hidden bosses, beta guides advise healers to bring mana potions for the waves.

Before the pull

  1. Check levels15 for the dungeon, 16 for every quest.
  2. Horde: collect 4 questsBrill, the Undercity and Tabitha Heartweaver.
  3. Alliance: travel as a groupCaptain Truman waits inside.
  4. Prefer your own questsA sharing bug was fixed on September 24.
  5. Healers: pack mana potionsOnly if you plan the hidden bosses.

Bosses and the two hidden bosses

The layout is open, and beta guides list the bosses in different orders, so there is no single fixed route.

Wowhead Forever lists Witherfang as an elite beast and The Baron, Bjork and Rath’mael as elite undead.

Third-party beta observations give Witherfang and The Baron level 17, Bjork level 19 and Rath’mael level 20.

Beta guides say The Baron throws the tank into the air and stuns them for 5 seconds, so damage dealers should watch their threat.

Guides say Rath’mael’s main spell, Flamestrike, can be interrupted, and describe his fight as the longest in the dungeon.

There are two hidden bosses.

The Abandoned is an elite undead at level 18 in beta observations.

Guides say she appears after you clear a courtyard, use a statue and survive the waves.

Viktor the Vile is an elite beast at level 19 in beta observations.

Guides say he appears after you clear a house, use its fireplace and survive several waves.

Guides suggest summoning Viktor last, when your group has the most resources left.

Wowhead Forever also lists a rare elite, Lordaeron Captain, reported at level 19.

Boss loot

Each of the six bosses has been seen dropping three items, 18 in total.

Which boss drops which item comes from third-party beta observations; the item names and stats come from Wowhead Forever’s beta data.

Quest rewards and picks by role

The quest rewards below come from Wowhead Forever’s quest pages (beta game data).

Unending Torment offers the same three choices as Abominable Creatures on its third step, and both Crest of Lordaeron quests give a Small Sack of Gems.

Our picks from Wowhead Forever beta item data; stats may change before launch.

Rotmender’s Raiment: the cloth healing set

Rotmender’s Raiment is a 5-piece cloth set in Wowhead Forever’s beta data.

The 2-piece bonus is +10 Intellect, and the 3-piece bonus reduces all threat you generate by 5%.

The 4-piece bonus restores 600 mana over 15 seconds when your mana falls below 15%, at most once every 5 minutes.

The 5-piece bonus gives your healing spells a 10% chance to apply Rotmending, which restores 40 health every 3 seconds for 15 seconds.

3All threat generated −5%
4Below 15% mana: 600 mana over 15 seconce every 5 min
5Healing spells: 10% chance of Rotmending40 health every 3 sec for 15 sec

Set bonuses from Wowhead Forever beta data, checked September 27, 2026.

Only the Leggings and the Treads have been seen dropping in Ruins of Lordaeron; the Robes, Sash and Gloves are bind-on-equip and their source is unknown.

The pieces require level 17 to 19.

So this dungeon alone gets you to the 2-piece bonus (our reading of the observed drops).

Still unconfirmed, and what we will recheck after launch

As of September 27, 2026, these points are not confirmed by Blizzard or are disputed between sources.

The Group Finder range of 11 to 21 is a player report with no Blizzard reply.

Captain Truman’s spot, the crest’s spawn points, the hidden-boss summons and which boss drops which item are beta observations.

Required levels, sharing and rewards come from beta data and may change before launch.

The source of 3 Rotmender’s Raiment pieces (Robes, Sash and Gloves) is unknown, and Blizzard has not published an Alliance route to the entrance.

After launch we will check the quests, levels, drops and set bonuses again.

Any change will be recorded in this page’s change log.
