The short answer: a Forever file is not yet a Forever boss warning
Deadly Boss Mods (DBM), BigWigs and GTFO each have a stable file for the Forever beta.
CurseForge marks those files for game version 1.60.1.
Their TOC info file names supported versions; for Forever it lists interface number 16001.
The DBM files are DBM-Core 12.1.11 from September 25 and DBM-Dungeons r264.
DBM-Vanilla r830, the Classic raid pack, is also marked for Forever.
DBM-Dungeons r264 and DBM-Vanilla r830 both came out on September 20.
BigWigs v426.1 came out on September 28 and GTFO 6.11 on September 21.
The BigWigs boss packs lag behind: LittleWigs v12.1.18 and BigWigs_Classic v12.1.2.
Neither lists 16001; they came out on September 27 and September 3.

Stable files by the original developers on CurseForge, upload dates in UTC; TOC files read on GitHub or in the download. Checked on September 29, 2026.
A Forever file only means the addon loads; its Forever boss content is thin so far.
DBM recognises four Forever dungeons but has no ability warnings for them yet.
BigWigs has no Forever boss pack, and GTFO has no Forever alert entries yet.
Pick DBM or BigWigs, not both; GTFO can run next to either.
We read the developers' files and code on September 29, 2026.
We did not test the addons in the game.
Dates are CurseForge upload dates in UTC, and only stable Release files count here.
What the Forever boss modules cover so far
DBM-Dungeons r264 contains a folder named DBM-Party-Forever.
It covers four of the nine new Forever dungeons, with 24 boss files in total.
The Hall of Thanes has 4 boss files, and Ruins of Lordaeron has 7.
Krol’dok Stronghold has 4, and the Shaper’s Terrace has 9.
Blizzard lists those dungeons for levels 13–18, 15–20, 40–45 and 58–60.
| Forever dungeon | Levels | DBM boss files (r264) |
|---|---|---|
| The Hall of Thanes | 13–18 | 4 |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | 15–20 | 7 |
| Krol’dok Stronghold | 40–45 | 4 |
| The Shaper’s Terrace | 58–60 | 9 |
| The other five new dungeons | — | 0 |
Boss files recognise the fight only; none has ability warnings yet. Levels from Blizzard's list of the nine new dungeons.
Each boss file tells DBM which fight it is, and nothing more yet.
The line for a warning sound is a commented-out placeholder.
So DBM can tell when a Forever boss fight starts and ends, but gives no ability warnings.
We found no DBM files for the other five new dungeons or for Forever's new raids.
DBM-Dungeons also keeps its Classic dungeon pack, and that pack lists 16001 too.
We could not check if those Classic boss files match Forever's versions of the dungeons.
BigWigs v426.1 recognises the Forever client and loads there.
Its dungeon warnings live in LittleWigs, and its Classic raids in BigWigs_Classic.
Neither pack lists 16001, and CurseForge does not mark either for 1.60.1.
WoW shows an addon as out of date when its TOC lacks the client's interface number.
The BigWigs zone list also has no entry for the four new dungeons DBM covers.
Why so little? Blizzard chose the modern addon API for Forever.
A developer said so in Blizzard's September 17 Q&A; combat limits for addons come with it.
The developer added that Forever's boss encounters are much simpler than modern ones.
DBM's and GTFO's code both treat Forever as a restricted client, like the modern game.
DBM or BigWigs: run one, not both
DBM and BigWigs do the same job: boss warnings, timer bars and alert sounds.
With both running you would get two sets of warnings and bars for the same fight.
You do not need both to play in a group that mixes them.
BigWigs reads DBM's group messages for version checks, custom bars and break timers.
DBM adds its /pull and /break commands only when BigWigs is not loaded, its code says.

From the developers' current stable files; versions and dates are in the first table.
In Forever today, only DBM has a Forever dungeon pack.
That pack does not warn about abilities yet, so the choice matters less now than later.
Our take: choose DBM if you want Forever fights recognised now.
Choose BigWigs if you already prefer it and can wait for its Forever packs.
GTFO: a sound when you stand in something harmful
GTFO plays a sound when you stand in something you should not stand in.
It does not track boss abilities, so it can run next to DBM or BigWigs.
It has four alert sounds: high damage, low damage, fail and friendly fire.
Version 6.11 from September 21 added support for WoW: Forever, its changelog says.
In 6.11, the two Forever alert lists are placeholders with no entries yet.
Its code still sounds an alert when your breath runs out underwater.
It also warns when you swim into fatigue; both alerts are on by default.
Alert if combat starts while AFK (away) is a separate option and is off by default.
When turned on, it tries to sound one alert as combat starts.
GTFO says this may not work in situations Blizzard restricts.
Our take: keep it for later updates, but do not rely on it for Forever ground effects yet.
It has its own volume slider and a sound channel setting in its options.
To hear it with game sound muted, turn on Play sounds when muted.
Keep your Master Volume above 0% for that option to work, GTFO's page says.
Install order
Download each addon from its developer's CurseForge project, using the Download box below.
On the Files tab, pick a file for game version 1.60.1 that is marked Release, not Alpha.
For DBM, install DBM-Core first; the other DBM packs need it.
Then add DBM-Dungeons for dungeons, and DBM-Vanilla if you want Classic raid modules.
For BigWigs, install the BigWigs file alone for now.
LittleWigs and BigWigs_Classic have no file for 1.60.1 yet.
GTFO is a single download.
Unzip each download and copy every folder inside it into the AddOns folder.
Installing a boss mod and GTFO
- Pick one boss modDBM or BigWigs
- DBM routeDBM-Core, then DBM-Dungeons, DBM-Vanilla optional
- BigWigs routethe BigWigs file only, for now
- Add GTFOone download
- Copy every folder into AddOnsthen enable them one at a time
Our addon guide shows where the beta AddOns folder is and how to enable addons one by one.
After your first reload, open each addon's options once to check your settings.
First setup and test commands
Type /dbm to open DBM's options.
DBM plays its alert sounds on the Master channel by default; its options can change that.
Type /bw or /bigwigs to open BigWigs' options, and /bwv to see the versions in your group.
With either boss mod, /pull starts a pull countdown; with no number it counts 10 seconds.
Type /gtfo options for GTFO's settings.
/gtfo test1 plays the high damage alert.
/gtfo test2, test3 and test4 play the low damage, fail and friendly fire alerts.
| Addon | Options | Useful commands |
|---|---|---|
| DBM | /dbm | /pull/break for a break timer |
| BigWigs | /bw or /bigwigs | /pull/bwv for group versions |
| GTFO | /gtfo options | /gtfo test1/gtfo standby, out of combat only |
/gtfo standby pauses GTFO, and typing it again turns GTFO back on.
Use it out of combat: during combat or a boss fight GTFO only prints an error.
Test sounds once outside a dungeon so you know which addon made which sound.
When boss mod alerts overlap with the game's own
During some boss fights, WoW shows boss emotes as large text in the middle of the screen.
Both boss mods hide that text by default while they handle a fight.
In DBM, open /dbm, then Global Disables & Filters, then Block Blizzard Features.
There, Hide Blizzard Raid Warnings during boss fights is on by default.
In Forever it stops boss emotes and whispers there and mutes two boss-emote sounds.
Untick it if you want Blizzard's own boss text back.
The same panel can mute effects, ambience or music in boss fights; all are off by default.
To keep Blizzard's text and drop DBM's instead, open Disable DBM Features.
There, tick Disable DBM Announce entirely.
In BigWigs, open /bw, then Boss Block: Block middle-screen emotes is also on by default.
BigWigs notes that blocked emotes still appear in chat.
It only blocks them while one of its boss modules runs, and Forever has none yet.
GTFO hides nothing; if its sound clashes, lower its volume or move it to another channel.
In Midnight, Blizzard added a Boss Warning UI with a timeline of upcoming boss abilities.
Blizzard has not said whether Forever has it.
DBM 12.1.11 offers switches for that timeline and warnings only on the modern client.
Before your first Forever dungeon
① Install one boss mod and GTFO, or skip them; new dungeons have no ability warnings yet.
② Before a dungeon run, open the Files tab again and look for a newer Release file.
③ If a pack shows as out of date, wait for its developer instead of loading it anyway.
④ Test the sounds once so you know which addon is warning you.
The two dungeon guides below cover the quests and loot of the first two new dungeons.
