Blizzard published its WoW Forever class deep dive for Priest and Warrior on September 30, 2026 (21:00 UTC).
This guide lists every Warrior change in that article and adds the Warrior items from the beta development notes of September 24 and of the October 1 beta build as change history.
Blizzard posted the October 1 Warrior changes in its development notes and in a separate forum post the same day (U.S. time).
We checked the English, German and Korean versions of the deep dive on October 2, 2026 and rechecked them with the October 1 notes on October 3, 2026; we have not tested these changes in the beta ourselves.
Blizzard says the Warrior changes make Rage more reliable, turn some utility into baseline abilities and sharpen the role of each specialization.
The biggest change is to Rage itself: Armor and absorb shields no longer cut the Rage you gain from being hit, and critical strikes give extra Rage again.
The deep dive set that bonus at 75% more Rage than a normal hit, and the October 1 build raised it to 100%.
Tactical Mastery (level 14) and Victory Rush (level 20) become baseline, three big cooldowns are separated, and Thunder Clap moves into Defensive Stance.
The October 1 build then reworked the Fury tree and moved several Protection talents so that players without a shield can reach the middle of that tree.
Talents open at level 10 and keep the one-point milestone talents at 11, 21 and 31 points, now joined by a new 16-point milestone.
You change talents at a class trainer in a major city, and Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40.
Blizzard describes the Warrior as the master of melee combat, with a unique strength in sustained damage to several melee targets.
Its stated weakness is that Warriors lack the tools to recover easily after taking too much damage.
| Blizzard's view | Detail |
|---|---|
| Strength | Master of melee damage that can also mitigate damage taken |
| Unique strength | Sustained damage to several melee targets, found on no other melee class |
| Toolkit | Tools for nearly any problemplus buffs and debuffs only Warriors supply |
| Weakness | Few tools to recover after taking too much damage |
| Group role | Welcome as tank or damage dealer |
How Blizzard's deep dive describes the Warrior.
Blizzard notes that class abilities and talents may keep changing throughout the beta.
Community reaction (from our daily data of October 2, 2026): Blizzard's U.S. forum thread for this deep dive had 144 posts, 12,469 views and 543 likes.
The r/classicwow thread about the same article had 453 upvotes and 530 comments.
Of the 8 most-upvoted comments saved in that data, 5 were about Shadow Priest design and 1 was about the Warrior Rage change.
What changes in Forever
Blizzard opens the Warrior section by acknowledging bugs with Rage generation in the beta.
It says the team is tracking down the root cause, that tracking it down may take a couple weeks, and it gives no date for a fix.
Rage from taking damage keeps the original formula, with one big change: it is calculated as if Armor did not exist.
Blizzard applies the old formula as if you always had 50% damage reduction from Armor, so wearing more Armor no longer lowers your Rage.
This Rage also ignores all damage absorption effects, so a Power Word: Shield on you no longer reduces the Rage you gain.
Rage from dealing damage is now fully normalized and based on the speed of the weapon that dealt the damage.
In the launch beta, critical strikes gave no extra Rage; the deep dive added that back at 75% more Rage than a normal hit.
The October 1 build raised the bonus to 100% more Rage than a normal hit.
Those notes describe the bonus as applying when you land a critical strike with a basic attack.
| Rage source | Forever rule |
|---|---|
| Taking damage | Original formula, but Armor is ignoredcalculated as if Armor always gave 50% reduction |
| Absorbs | Ignored, so Power Word: Shield no longer reduces Rage |
| Dealing damage | Fully normalized to the speed of the weapon that hit |
| Critical strikes | 100% more Rage than a normal hitOctober 1 build; 75% in the deep dive, none in the launch beta |
| Known bugs | Root cause still being tracked downmay take a couple weeks |
Rage rules from Blizzard's class deep dive, with the October 1 change.
Tactical Mastery is learned at level 14 and lets every Warrior keep 10 Rage when changing stances; Arms talents can improve it further.
Victory Rush is learned at level 20: an instant attack on a 30-second cooldown that deals damage (increased by Attack Power) and heals you for 10% of maximum health.
It becomes usable for 20 seconds every time you kill a non-trivial enemy.
Recklessness no longer shares a cooldown with Shield Wall and Retaliation.
Retaliation and Shield Wall no longer share cooldowns either, and each cooldown is reduced to 15 minutes.
Rend now gains significant damage scaling from Attack Power.
Thunder Clap gains significant Attack Power scaling and is usable in Defensive Stance, its cooldown rises to 6 seconds, and its threat is reduced to account for that.
Battle Shout gives less Attack Power because both factions now have Shaman and Paladin buffs, but the benefit of Improved Battle Shout is built in.
Sunder Armor can now be used even if the target has a stronger Expose Armor effect, and the threat it generates now scales with Attack Power.
Several old talents are now baseline: Booming Voice's longer Shout durations, Improved Demoralizing Shout, Improved Battle Shout, Improved Shield Block and Improved Taunt.
| Ability | Change |
|---|---|
| Tactical Mastery | Learned at level 14keep 10 Rage when changing stances |
| Victory Rush | Learned at level 20, 30-second cooldownheals 10% of maximum health; usable for 20 seconds after a kill |
| Recklessness | No shared cooldown with Shield Wall and Retaliation |
| Retaliation | Own cooldown, reduced to 15 minutes |
| Shield Wall | Own cooldown, reduced to 15 minutes |
| Rend | Much more Attack Power scaling |
| Thunder Clap | Usable in Defensive Stance6 seconds cooldown, reduced threat, more Attack Power scaling |
| Battle Shout | Less Attack Power, Improved Battle Shout built in |
| Sunder Armor | Works beside a stronger Expose Armor; threat scales with Attack Power |
Baseline Warrior changes in the deep dive.
The deep dive did not say whether these Rage rules also apply to a Druid's Bear Form.
The October 1 notes answer part of that: Bear Form and Dire Bear Form now generate 75% more Rage on a critical strike, not the Warrior's 100%.
Change history: the beta notes of September 24 corrected Sunder Armor's threat values on all ranks, with a small increase to threat from Attack Power.
The same notes raised Bloodthrill's chance to activate to 4/8/12/16/20% (was 2/4/6/8/10%) and limited it to main-hand melee attacks, including Cleave and Heroic Strike.
They also raised Slam's cooldown to 18 seconds (was 15 seconds) and made Improved Slam reduce that cooldown by 1.5/3 seconds.
They swapped Bastion (row 5) and Focused Rage (row 6) so Protection Warriors get Focused Rage sooner.
The September 30 deep dive still lists Bastion in row 5 and Focused Rage in row 6, so the two official sources disagree on the current rows.
| Beta change (September 24) | Effect |
|---|---|
| Sunder Armor | Threat values corrected on all ranks |
| Bloodthrill | 4/8/12/16/20% chance (was 2/4/6/8/10%)main-hand melee only, including Cleave and Heroic Strike |
| Slam | Cooldown 18 seconds (was 15 seconds) |
| Improved Slam | Slam cooldown 1.5/3 seconds shorter |
| Bastion and Focused Rage | Rows swappedthe September 30 deep dive still lists the old rows |
Warrior items from the beta development notes of September 24.
Change history, October 1 build: Blizzard says a Dual Wield Specialization bug forced it to correct its tests, so it made another pass on Fury.
The bug made Dual Wield Specialization add its hit chance to both weapons, and the October 1 build fixes it.
In the same build, Dual Wield Specialization no longer gives off-hand hit chance or its 20/40/60/80/100% bonus to off-hand Rage generation.
Queueing Heroic Strike no longer increases your off-hand hit chance.
Rend and Sunder Armor now instantly tap enemies to the Warrior.
Tapping is the WoW term for claiming an enemy so that its experience and loot go to you or your group.
Spearing Strike no longer requires a two-handed weapon; it now requires Battle Stance.
Berserker Rage is now available at level 30 (was 32), and the same build lets beta players level up to 30.
The known-issues list in the same notes still says Dual Wield Specialization gives 2/4/6/8/10% hit chance to both hands, so the two parts of the post disagree.
The Fury and Protection talent changes from this build are in the Talents section below.
| Change (October 1) | Effect |
|---|---|
| Critical strike Rage | 100% more Rage than a normal hitwas 75% |
| Dual Wield Specialization | Bug fixed: no hit chance on both weaponsno off-hand hit or off-hand Rage bonus any more |
| Heroic Strike | Queueing it no longer raises off-hand hit chance |
| Rend, Sunder Armor | Instantly tap the enemy to the Warrior |
| Spearing Strike | Needs Battle Stance instead of a two-handed weapon |
| Berserker Rage | Available at level 30 (was 32) |
| Fury and Protection talents | Reworked; see Talents |
Warrior changes in the October 1 beta build, after the deep dive.
Community reaction (from our daily data of October 3, 2026): Blizzard's forum post with these Warrior updates had 97 posts, 6,286 views and 56 likes.
The r/classicwow thread sharing the full Warrior notes had 112 upvotes and 80 comments, and a forum thread asking what “instantly tap enemies” means had 19 posts.
Talents
Gold-medal talents are the one-point milestone talents at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points in a tree.
The deep dive names one new gold-medal talent per Warrior tree, all at 16 points: Spearing Strike (Arms), Raging Blows (Fury) and Vanguard (Protection).
It does not name the Warrior gold-medal talents at 11, 21 and 31 points.
| Points | Arms | Fury | Protection |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11 | Not named | Not named | Not named |
| 16 | Spearing Strike15 Rage, 20 second cooldown, Battle Stance | Raging BlowsCleave and Whirlwind cost 3 less Rage | VanguardCharge in Defensive Stance |
| 21 | Not named | Not named | Not named |
| 31 | Not named | Not named | Not named |
Gold-medal talents named in the deep dive. “Not named” means the article does not name that milestone.
Spearing Strike is an instant attack for 15 Rage on a 20 second cooldown that deals a percentage of weapon damage and dismounts the target.
Its damage is doubled if the target was mounted, a Dragon or a Giant.
Since the October 1 build, Spearing Strike requires Battle Stance instead of a two-handed weapon.
In the deep dive, Raging Blows makes Whirlwind hit with both weapons when you dual-wield and reduces the Rage cost of Cleave.
Since October 1, Whirlwind always hits with both weapons without a talent point, and Raging Blows instead lowers the Rage cost of Cleave and Whirlwind by 3.
Vanguard lets you use Charge in Defensive Stance.
Arms changes: Improved Tactical Mastery (formerly Tactical Mastery) adds 3 retained Rage per point, up to a maximum of 25 Rage when shifting stances.
Improved Overpower moves up from row 3 to row 2, and Anger Management only gets a clearer tooltip with no change in function.
Bloodthrill is a new row 5 talent: main-hand attacks on targets afflicted with Rend have a chance to activate Overpower for 6 seconds.
Weaponmaster is also new in row 5 and combines all weapon specialization talents into one, with a bonus based on your equipped weapon.
Axes and Polearms give more critical strike chance, Maces and Staves ignore some of the target's Armor, and Swords have a chance to gain an extra melee auto attack.
Improved Slam moves from Fury to row 6 of Arms and is redesigned with only 2 points.
It reduces the cooldown, global cooldown and cast time of Slam, and Slam no longer delays or interrupts your melee auto attack swing.
Removed from Arms: Axe Specialization, Mace Specialization, Sword Specialization and Polearm Specialization, which are now part of Weaponmaster.
| Arms talent | Change |
|---|---|
| Improved Tactical Mastery | 3 Rage per pointup to 25 Rage kept on stance change |
| Improved Overpower | Row 3 → 2 |
| Anger Management | Clearer tooltip, same function |
| Spearing Strike | New, 16 pointsdismounts; double damage on mounted targets, Dragons and Giants; needs Battle Stance since October 1 |
| Bloodthrill | New, row 5Overpower for 6 seconds after hits on Rend targets |
| Weaponmaster | New, row 5replaces the four weapon specializations |
| Improved Slam | From Fury to row 6, 2 pointsfaster Slam that no longer delays auto attacks |
Arms talent changes in the deep dive, with the October 1 update.
Fury in the deep dive: Booming Voice no longer changes Shout durations, because that effect is now baseline.
Iron Will now shortens Stun durations instead of raising resistance to them; the article lists it under Fury but says it moves from Protection to row 2 of Arms.
Unbridled Wrath (the deep dive calls it Unbridled Rage) gets a higher chance to trigger, and the deep dive gave it 2 Rage with a two-handed weapon.
Improved Cleave was changed to lower Cleave's Rage cost instead of raising its bonus damage.
Blood Craze now also triggers from attacks that deal more than 20% of your maximum health in a single hit and from striking a target with Bloodthirst.
Boundless Rage (new, row 3) increased your maximum Rage, and Precision (new, row 5) increases your chance to hit.
Dual Wield Specialization was to increase your chance to hit with off-hand weapons as well.
Enrage is redesigned and now has a chance to trigger from taking any damage.
Death Wish now increases all damage you take while active instead of lowering your Armor and resistances.
Flurry's total attack speed increase is reduced by 5%.
Bloodthirst no longer heals you; instead it raises your movement speed by 10% for 10 seconds, and its damage is retuned with a base value and less Attack Power scaling.
Fury in the October 1 build: Blizzard wants more utility and meaningful choices early in the tree for leveling, instead of spending points in Enrage just to reach Flurry.
Enrage is no longer required to reach Flurry; Death Wish is now required instead.
Booming Voice now increases the area of effect of your Shouts by 10/20/30/40/50% and lowers their Rage cost by 5/10/15/20/25%.
Lingering Rage (new, row 2) delays the start of Rage decay after you leave combat by 2/4/6/8/10 seconds.
Furious Precision (new, row 3) increases your chance to hit with off-hand attacks by 4/7/10%.
Gore Drinker (new, row 6, requires Enrage) makes Enrage, Berserker Rage, Bloodrage, Death Wish and Bloodthirst cause your next 3 melee attacks to restore 0.5/1% of your maximum health.
Unbridled Wrath no longer gives twice as much Rage with two-handed weapons, and a bug that lowered its trigger chance is fixed.
Blood Craze no longer activates from Bloodthirst casts, and Dual Wield Specialization no longer gives off-hand hit chance.
Improved Berserker Rage moves to row 5 (was row 6), and Bloodthirst's Attack Power ratio rises to 45% (was 35%).
Iron Will leaves Fury: the October 1 notes move it to row 1 of Protection and give row 2 of Fury as its old place.
The October 1 notes do not mention Precision, the row 5 hit talent from the deep dive.
Removed from Fury: Improved Demoralizing Shout and Improved Battle Shout (now baseline), and in the October 1 build Improved Cleave and Boundless Rage.
| Fury talent | Change |
|---|---|
| Booming Voice | Shout duration effect now baselineOctober 1: larger Shout area, cheaper Shouts |
| Lingering Rage | New on October 1, row 2Rage decay starts later after combat |
| Unbridled Wrath | Higher chanceOctober 1: no double Rage with two-handers |
| Improved Cleave | Removed on October 1deep dive: lower Cleave Rage cost |
| Blood Craze | Also from hits over 20% of maximum healthOctober 1: no longer from Bloodthirst casts |
| Boundless Rage | Removed on October 1deep dive: new row 3, more maximum Rage |
| Furious Precision | New on October 1, row 3off-hand hit chance 4/7/10% |
| Dual Wield Specialization | No off-hand hit or Rage bonusOctober 1 bug fix |
| Raging Blows | New, 16 pointsOctober 1: Cleave and Whirlwind cost 3 less Rage |
| Enrage | Chance from any damage takenno longer required for Flurry |
| Precision | New, row 5: more hit chancenot mentioned on October 1 |
| Improved Berserker Rage | Row 5 since October 1 (was row 6) |
| Death Wish | More damage taken instead of less Armornow required for Flurry |
| Flurry | Attack speed bonus 5% lower; requires Death Wish |
| Gore Drinker | New on October 1, row 6next 3 melee attacks restore 0.5/1% of maximum health |
| Bloodthirst | No heal; 10% movement speed for 10 secondsOctober 1: 45% of Attack Power (was 35%) |
| Iron Will | Shorter Stunsmoved to Protection row 1 on October 1 |
Fury talents: deep dive changes and the October 1 rework.
Protection changes: Shield Specialization now has a chance to generate 5 Rage on a block instead of 1 Rage.
Anticipation grants twice as much Defense skill per talent point, and Improved Bloodrage now raises both the initial Rage and the Rage over time.
Master of Defense (new, row 3) requires Shield Specialization and gives a chance to gain 5 Rage when you dodge or parry with a shield equipped.
Improved Revenge is redesigned to increase Revenge's damage instead of giving a chance to stun.
Defiance now requires a shield to increase threat in Defensive Stance.
Improved Disarm now reduces Disarm's cooldown instead of increasing its duration, and Improved Shield Wall now reduces Shield Wall's cooldown by a large amount.
Bastion is new and increases all damage you deal while a shield is equipped, and Focused Rage is new and reduces the Rage cost of all offensive abilities.
Shield Slam gains more damage from Block Value.
Removed from Protection: Improved Shield Block and Improved Taunt are now baseline, and One-Handed Weapon Specialization is removed.
Protection in the October 1 build: Blizzard wants players without a shield to have a clear path to the middle of the tree.
It says Protection could then serve as a PvP secondary specialization with easier access to Improved Bloodrage, Iron Will, Improved Disarm, Last Stand and Improved Shield Bash.
Iron Will and Improved Bloodrage now sit in row 1, Anticipation (was row 1) and Improved Revenge (was row 3) in row 2.
Improved Disarm moves to row 3 (was row 4) and Improved Shield Bash to row 4 (was row 5).
Toughness has been removed.

Leveling
The deep dive gives no official leveling route or leveling talent build for Warriors.
It does give level milestones that change how a Warrior plays while leveling.
At level 10 talents open.
At level 14 every Warrior learns Tactical Mastery and keeps 10 Rage when changing stances.
At level 20 Victory Rush arrives: after a kill against a non-trivial enemy it heals you for 10% of maximum health.
At level 30 Berserker Rage becomes available; the October 1 build moved it there from level 32.
At level 40 Dual Specialization becomes available.
Our reading, not Blizzard's: Victory Rush and Rage from being hit that no longer shrinks with better Armor should make solo questing smoother, but Blizzard has not tested that claim for us.
Blizzard says its October 1 Fury changes aim to give more utility and meaningful choices early in the tree for leveling.
Thunder Clap in Defensive Stance gives Protection Warriors an area attack without leaving the stance.
The October 1 build lets beta players level up to 30, so the level 40 milestone is out of reach in the beta for now.
Each talent change still costs a trip to a class trainer in a major city.

Stat priority
Blizzard has not published a stat priority for any Warrior specialization in Forever.
The deep dive and the October 1 notes do say which stats several abilities and talents now use, and we list those instead of guessing a ranking.
| Stat | Where it is used | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Attack Power | Rend, Thunder Clap, Victory Rush, Bloodthirst (45%), Sunder Armor threat | Not published |
| Critical strike | 100% extra Rage on crits, Weaponmaster (Axes, Polearms) | Not published |
| Hit chance | Furious Precision (off-hand), Precision | Not published |
| Defense skill | Anticipation | Not published |
| Block Value | Shield Slam | Not published |
Stat effects named in the deep dive and the October 1 notes. The ranking itself is not published.
Rend, Thunder Clap and Victory Rush deal more damage with Attack Power, Bloodthirst now uses 45% of it, and Sunder Armor's threat scales with it.
Critical strikes give 100% more Rage in the October 1 build, and Weaponmaster gives Axe and Polearm users more critical strike chance.
Furious Precision raises off-hand hit chance and Precision from the deep dive raises hit chance, while Dual Wield Specialization no longer adds hit after October 1.
Anticipation doubles the Defense skill per point, and Shield Slam gains more damage from Block Value.
We will add a priority only when Blizzard or final tuning makes one verifiable.
Gear
Your weapon type now decides your Weaponmaster bonus if you take the talent.
Axes and Polearms give more critical strike chance, Maces and Staves ignore some of the target's Armor, and Swords can grant an extra melee auto attack.
The article lists no Weaponmaster bonus for daggers or fist weapons.
| Weapon | Weaponmaster bonus |
|---|---|
| Axes, Polearms | More critical strike chance |
| Maces, Staves | Ignore some target Armor |
| Swords | Chance for an extra auto attack |
| Daggers, fist weapons | Not listed |
Weaponmaster bonus by weapon type, as listed in the deep dive.
Rage from dealing damage is based on the speed of the weapon that dealt the damage.
The deep dive gave Unbridled Wrath 2 Rage with a two-handed weapon, but the October 1 build removed its double Rage for two-handers.
Spearing Strike no longer needs a two-handed weapon; since October 1 it needs Battle Stance.
For dual-wielders, Whirlwind now always hits with both weapons, Furious Precision adds off-hand hit chance, and Dual Wield Specialization no longer does.
Several Protection talents need a shield: Defiance for its threat bonus, Master of Defense for Rage on dodge or parry, and Bastion for its damage bonus.
More Armor no longer reduces the Rage you gain from being hit.
Blizzard has not published Warrior gear lists, and we do not name best-in-slot items.
Recommended professions
Blizzard does not recommend professions for Warriors, and the deep dive names no Warrior-specific profession change.
We do not rank professions for Warriors until an official source does.
Profession perks from the Legacy system and the new camping features apply to every class.
Addons and macros
The deep dive names no Warrior addons or macros.
The beta notes of September 24 list the Warrior among the classes that can test the new Cooldown Manager.
The Cooldown Manager is off by default; you turn it on under Options in the Gameplay Enhancement settings, and it does not support spell ranks yet.
The same notes add a stance flyout for Warriors to the gamepad action bar.
Our reading: with Thunder Clap usable in Defensive Stance and Charge in Defensive Stance through Vanguard, Protection Warriors need fewer stance-swap macros.
Our reading: because Recklessness, Retaliation and Shield Wall now have separate cooldowns, a cooldown tracker should show them as three separate timers.
Community reaction (from our daily data of October 2, 2026): a U.S. forum thread welcoming the return of extra Rage on critical strikes had 49 posts and 2,498 views.
A forum thread objecting to Rage normalization had 90 posts and 163 likes, and a thread asking whether the Rage changes affect Bear Form had 16 posts.
