Latest build: October 8 at a glance
This page tracks every WoW Forever beta update with official notes, newest first.
Each entry comes from Blizzard's Beta Development Notes thread on its official forums.
The newest notes went up on October 8, 2026 at 21:32 UTC (2:32 p.m. PDT).
We read Blizzard's posts on October 9; we have not played these builds ourselves.
These October 8 changes matter most before launch.
Dungeon creature kills now give about 20% more experience.
Party XP is calculated per player again, as in Classic Era.
Every beta tester got 16 Legacy Points, and Legacy respecs start at 1 silver on the beta.
Rage from taking damage was fixed, so most Warriors and Druids should gain more Rage.
The new City of Dalaran dungeon is open for testing.
The Cooldown Manager now supports every class, racial abilities and trinkets.
How to read beta notes
Beta notes describe the test client, not the launch game.
Blizzard says class abilities and talents may keep changing throughout the beta.
Some rules are beta-only by design.
The 1-silver talent respec from September 24 is temporary for the beta only.
The October 8 Legacy respec rule also only applies during the beta, Blizzard says.
The 16 Legacy Points are there so testers can fully try the system, the notes say.
Known issues are bugs Blizzard already knows about; they are not planned changes.
Blizzard keeps a separate Known Issues thread and adds a block for each build.
The notes give no build numbers, so we name each build by its post date.
Times on this page are post times; we converted UTC to PDT ourselves.
Each build section sums up the main changes; Blizzard's full notes list more.
We only list numbers the notes state and do not work out new totals.
Beta updates with official notes so far
The beta began on September 17, 2026, according to Blizzard.
Since then Blizzard has posted three sets of development notes in one forum thread.
September 24: posted at 22:23 UTC, which was 3:23 p.m. PDT.
October 1: posted at 22:56 UTC, which was 3:56 p.m. PDT.
Blizzard edited the October 1 post a few hours later; we use the edited version.
October 8: posted at 21:32 UTC, which was 2:32 p.m. PDT.
| Build | Posted (UTC / PDT) | Headline changes |
|---|---|---|
| October 8 | Oct 8, 21:32 UTC / 2:32 p.m. | Dalaran dungeon, about 20% more dungeon kill XP, 16 Legacy Points, Rage fixes |
| October 1 | Oct 1, 22:56 UTC / 3:56 p.m. | Level cap 30, three more dungeons, less dungeon quest XP, higher honor costs |
| September 24 | Sept 24, 22:23 UTC / 3:23 p.m. | 1-silver respec, campfire rules, Wizard Oil and wand changes, Cooldown Manager |
Post times from Blizzard's U.S. forum thread; PDT converted by us.
Each post ends with the known issues that were new in that build.
The Known Issues thread holds the full list and was retitled for October 8.
Not every beta build comes with notes in this thread.
A Blizzard developer wrote on October 6 that build 70245 had just gone out.
No development notes were posted for that build; this page covers updates with notes.
Blizzard also posts the same English notes on its European forum.
October 8: dungeons, experience and looting
The new City of Dalaran dungeon is now available for testing.
Experience from killing creatures in dungeons rose by about 20%.
Blizzard also fixed party XP when higher-level players kill lower-level enemies.
Until now, that penalty was based on the highest-level member of the party.
Now only each player's own level counts again, as in Classic Era.
Blizzard expects the two changes together to raise dungeon XP a lot for most players.
If a party member is far above the enemy's level, nobody in the party gets XP.
Blizzard says that rule is intended and stays as before.
| Change | Before | October 8 |
|---|---|---|
| XP from dungeon creature kills | — | About 20% more |
| Party XP penalty | Highest-level party member | Each player's own level (Classic Era) |
| Gelkis and Magram quests | Level 30 | Level 35 |
| Weapon swaps in one global cooldown | — | Several again, e.g. by macro |
From Blizzard's October 8 beta development notes.
On October 1, Blizzard had cut the extra XP from dungeon quests by 50%.
The October 8 notes do not mention dungeon quest XP; the new boost is for kills.
Creatures that dropped no loot can be interacted with again, as in Classic.
You can again swap several weapons within one global cooldown, for example by macro.
In Desolace, the new Gelkis and Magram quests now need level 35 (was 30).
Quests and creatures near Shadowvale and Bandarion Keep in Tirisfal are higher level now.
Blizzard says they were lower than the quests before them and could already be green.
On October 9 we collected Blizzard forum threads posted October 8–9 (Korean time).
82 of the 649 threads had “dungeon” in the title.
October 8: Legacy Points, Cooldown Manager and gamepad
All beta players have been granted completion of the Legacy Challenge.
That awards 16 Legacy Points so testers can try the whole system.
Blizzard announced this plan on October 1; the October 8 build applied it.
The lowest-cost Legacy respec now costs 1 silver on the beta.
After a respec, the price falls back by one step per hour.
Blizzard says this works like class talent respecs and only applies during the beta.
In Blizzard's Legacy screenshots, a perk's tooltip says “Right click to unlearn”.

Clicking an earned Legacy Challenge now opens the Legacy Challenge window.
The Cooldown Manager now supports all classes, racial abilities and trinkets.
Support for consumables will come in a later patch, Blizzard says.
Gamepad Action Bar settings moved from the options menu into Edit Mode.
Old settings do not carry over, so set them again in Edit Mode.
Edit Mode layouts are now saved and loaded per UI type.
Opening the map on a gamepad now starts on the Quest Log, so you keep running.
Voice chat can now use Discord Voice, following the party leader's setting.
Group Finder posts can pick an in-game voice mode that prompts members to join.
Quest types now show as text in the Quest Log, tracker and quest dialogue.
The Quest Tracker now also shows quest level requirements.
October 8: class changes with before and after
Blizzard fixed several bugs in how Rage from taking damage is calculated.
A typical Warrior or Druid should now gain more Rage from damage taken.
Rage used your own health instead of the creature's, so Stamina gear lowered it.
Critical strikes, crushing blows and damage absorbs are now handled correctly.
Rage was balanced around Warriors with 50% armor: fine for tanks, not for questing.
It is now balanced around 20% to 40% armor, depending on level.
| Class | Change | Before → October 8 |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Armor value Rage is balanced around | 50% → 20% to 40% by level |
| Druid | Extra Rage from critical strikes | 75% → 100% |
| Druid | Bear and Dire Bear Form threat bonus | 30% → 50% |
| Druid | Thorns spell power ratio | 13.3% → 6% |
| Hunter | Expose Prey duration | 5 sec → 10 sec |
| Paladin | Retribution Aura spell power ratio | 13.3% → 6% |
| Paladin | Reckoning trigger limit | — → once per 1.5 sec |
| Priest | Penance rank 1 mana cost | 50% higher |
Before and after values exactly as the October 8 notes give them.
Druid: extra Rage from critical strikes rose to 100% (was 75%).
Bear Form and Dire Bear Form threat bonus rose to 50% (was 30%).
Thorns returns to Vanilla base damage with a 6% spell power ratio (was 13.3%).
Predatory Instincts is now Natural Instinct and adds spell healing of 12/25% of Intellect.
Mana Potions now work in Bear, Dire Bear and Cat Form.
Hunter: Expose Prey lasts 10 sec (was 5), and Disengage threat reduction is doubled.
Unleashed Fury now raises pet damage, and Entrapment has diminishing returns.
Mage: low ranks of Frostbolt, Fireball and Arcane Missiles were retuned.
Blizzard says each new rank is now always an upgrade.
Paladin: Retribution Aura returns to Vanilla damage, about 33% less.
Its spell power ratio fell to 6% (was 13.3%), and it now uses the Paladin's spell power.
Reckoning can now trigger at most once every 1.5 seconds.
Improved Seal of Fury and Shield Specialization no longer add threat when giving mana.
Priest: Penance damage and healing were lowered to fix a channel-length bug.
Penance rank 1 now costs 50% more mana, and ranks 2 and 4 heal more.
Low ranks of Smite, Lesser Heal and Heal were retuned so new ranks are upgrades.
Shaman: Lightning Bolt ranks 1–5 were retuned so new ranks are upgrades.
Fire Nova no longer triggers and uses up Elemental Focus.
Warlock: your current pet is now stunned while you summon a new one.
Shadow Bolt ranks 1–4 were retuned the same way.
Warrior: Demoralizing Shout now causes threat, like the Druid's Demoralizing Roar.
Deep Wounds is again required to reach Impale.
Last Stand now gives the correct amount of health.
The class section of the October 8 notes has no Rogue entry.
Our class pages keep the full lists; this page keeps the headline numbers.
October 8: items, PvP, races and quests
Wolfshead Helm now grants 5 extra Energy when you use Shifting Power.
The helm's Rage effect stays the same.
Several dungeon quest rewards dropped from Rare to Uncommon, with stats to match.

Crafted wands got new vendor prices, from 5 copper up to 25 silver.
On October 1, those wands had been set to sell for 1 copper.

A coming hotfix will make them require level 35 to equip.
Damage from Discolored Healing Potions no longer breaks crowd control.
PvP: critical strikes in PvP no longer have reduced efficacy.
The capture point for Shipwreck Cove now appears in the right place.
Armor kits that grant attack power no longer give double ranged attack power.
Undead: a bug that could block Will of the Forsaken while asleep or charmed was fixed.
Barbers in the capital cities were replaced with local barbers.
October 8: new known issues
Blizzard listed three new known issues with the October 8 build.
Skyborne Druid Bear Form and Travel Form textures are updated in this build.
Cat Form, some Zephras Isle creatures, mounts and pets get theirs in a later build.
Blizzard showed before-and-after images of these forms in an October 7 article.

Hunters with Ferocity won't see their pet's higher crit chance on the character sheet.
Blizzard says that is a visual bug only.
Some icons in the Professions window appear broken.
The October 8 notes also fix three issues listed as known on October 1.
They cover Retribution Aura and missing threat from Demoralizing Shout.
The slow Taillasher Eggs respawn for a Durotar quest is fixed too.
October 1 build: level 30, three dungeons and less dungeon quest XP
This is a short summary of the notes posted on October 1 at 22:56 UTC.
Players can now level up to 30.

This is a short summary of the first notes, posted on September 24 at 22:23 UTC.
Talent respecs cost 1 silver if you have not changed talents recently.
After the first reset the next one costs much more, but it drops to 1 silver after 1 hour.
Blizzard says this pricing is temporary for the beta only.
Campfires: you can now buff others, cast and craft while you wait for the campfire buff.
You can get the buff while sitting, in a chair, sleeping, lying down or kneeling.

Blizzard listed 10 new known issues, mostly Cooldown Manager tracking gaps.
One said changing your party could move players to another world instance.
How we keep this page current
When Blizzard posts notes for a new beta build, we add it to the top of this page.
Each update also gets an entry in the change history at the end of the page.
Older builds then shrink to short summaries like the two above.
Class details go to our class change pages, which we revise separately.
We found no German or Korean version of the notes on October 9.
